Reading about the different purposes of advertisements made me categorize ads that I have come across. PSA seem to be the ones that I remember most and I'd have to say it's because of their broad message. They aren't selling an idea or service, instead it's persuading people to change the way they act or a habit. It was also interesting to read about the phases that ad agencies go through when coming up with an idea. The first couple of phases are the most important because it forms the foundation for the entire ad concept. Without them there is really no way to produce a successful campaign.
The one part of the reading that really found to be interesting was when they mentioned how product placement is being more and more embraced by the masses. People prefer them in video games because it makes them more realistic. People have accepted advertisement in all aspects of life and almost expect them.
I picked these screenshots from Josie and the Pussycats to show how common product placement is. This movie exaggerates it but it comments on just how much media surrounds us at all times.
