The best thing about Advertising by Design is that it is essentially a guidebook, providing explanation to concepts within creative processes and logical expectations for the preceding steps. The reading progression was comfortable & for the most part its information was interesting enough to hold attention. The main focus of the first few chapters is the notion that advertising is an art form that produces pieces upholding the high standards set by mainstream society; it must be respectful, truthful and responsible. Ads are able to reveal their contextual nature by means of providing a sense of time as well as showcase the visual mechanisms that its agency have used to promote their product to consumers.

Successful designs are those noticeable from their creativity. Designers are artists able to flex their mind, draw connections and acutely observe aspects of things to understand meaning and find alternative ways of representation. Ideas generated from the elementary steps of the design process are key to the final product, therefore it is never a bad idea to keep brainstorming until there are many options.

The following photos are examples from some Michael Kors ad campaigns. MK typically targets toward sexuality and wealth, therefore the designs are usually aesthetically pleasing.
