(1)        Describe the challenge.

There isn’t an app out there that allows viewers to talk about their favorite TV shows in a collective forum. This app would allow users to make a schedule of their favorite shows and share it with other users. They’d have the option to link shows they’ve watched on Hulu and Netflix. Each show has a forum where users can enter to talk about various topics pertaining to the show.

(2)        Who is the target audience?

The target audience would be men and women ranging in ages roughly 18-35. These people would be TV enthusiasts that watch their favorite shows religiously.

(3)        What does the audience currently think about the brand or group?

There are various threads and community blogs online but there isn’t an app that facilitates that function on a smartphone.

(4)        What would we like the target to think and feel?

I’d like the target audience to feel like the app is a comfortable and safe place where they can geek out about their shows without feeling like they’re being judged for watching so much TV. I want them to want to immediately sign into the app as soon as their show is over.

(5)        Which facts, evidence or thoughts will assist in this change of thinking?

With instant streaming sites like Netflix and Hulu people are able to watch entire seasons of their favorite shows but there isn’t a community where TV fans can flock to to share their thoughts and reactions.

(6)        What is the brand essence?

The essence would be laidback and reminiscent of a watercooler conversation.

(7)        What is the key emotion that will build a relationship with the core audience?

The emotion that will build with the core audience is comfort. Users will feel like they’re part of a large community of TV enthusiasts.
(8)        What media will best facilitate our goal?

The two most obvious and effective platforms would be Netflix and Hulu. Ads for the app would appear as banners. Twitter would also be a very helpful media platform because trending topics are usually sparked by TV shows.

(9)   What are the most critical elements?

The most critical elements would be the sense of community but at the same time the individuality offered by the use of profiles. No two users will have the exact same taste in TV shows.

(10)   What is the  single most important takeaway?

Users should discover new shows through this app. They should feel like they don’t have to wait until the next morning at work to rave about the latest episode of their can’t-miss how.

(11)   What do we want the audience to do?

The users should be able to meet fellow TV fanatics and even discover new TV shows that they would otherwise not know about.
